Athlete of the Week: Kam Lach

October 20, 2017

Senior Kam Lach has been a staple in Lady Hawks basketball for the past three years and is entering her biggest season of her career.

The First Team All-Section winner, Kam Lach showcased her abilities in front of hundreds at “The Pete” last year in the WPIAL Championship. Although the Hawks came up short against the Tigers, then junior Kam Lach distinctly stood out to the crowd.

Kam didn’t become this successful overnight, however. Her teammates attribute it to her work ethic; Senior Emma Papalia says that Kam is “hardcore” and is the “the hardest working player [she’s] seen.”

Kam is always the first into practice and the first one out. If you’re ever in school in the early hours of the morning, you can catch Kam putting in work on the court with teacher Mr. Travis and fellow players.

Monday through Wednesday, Kam begins her workout at 4:45 a.m. and is joined by Coach Travis and her players at 6 a.m.

Kam attributes her success on the court to these workouts saying, “[her] success on the court comes from all the hard work [she has] and continues to put in outside of practice.” Kam hopes to continue to build off of her work ethic to propel her the rest of her career.

The Lady Hawks Home Opener is Friday, Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Tip-Off Tournament in the Main Gym. Make sure to go out and support the girls’ basketball team on their journey to a WPIAL Championship.
