BP beats State College in first round of PIAA tournament
BP withstood a comeback by State College to win their match-up in the first round of the PIAA tournament, 3-2.
The game was played on Wednesday, May 27 at Altoona High School.
BP got out to an early lead, winning the first set, 25-19. They then won the second set, 25-21. This left them one set away from victory.
However, State College then staged a comeback. They won the third set, 25-19, and the fourth set, 25-23.
The teams went into the fifth set tied two sets all. It was a back and forth battle, but BP outlasted State College, 15-13, to win the set and match.
BP advances to the quarterfinals, where they will face Fox Chapel. They will play on May 30 at a site to be determined.
