BP Lady Hawks dominate PT on the hard court
Bethel Park faced off against Peters Township Monday night in a section clash.
The Hawks were riding a seven-game win streak into the game, coming off a 59-33 blowout win over West Allegheny. This game was important for the Hawks to win to stay towards the top of the section.
For Peters Township, they have had their up and downs this year with big wins and bad losses. They were coming in with a 4-4 section record and needed a win to keep up in the section.
The game got off to a little bit of a slow start, but offense picked up towards the end of the first quarter. The Hawks lead 14-10 after the first quarter. Sophomore Justina Mascaro was getting going early posting six first-quarter points.
The second quarter was played similar to the first with about the same amount of scoring being done. Mascaro continued to dominate both offensively and as well on the boards.
The Hawks lead Peters 23-20 at half.
The third quarter was when both teams would break out scoring wise. Bethel Park senior Mia Mattes got going scoring eight third-quarter points.
Peters Township sophomore Alyssa Konopka was having her way as well posting 14 points by the end of the third.
The Hawks still kept their lead at the end of the third leading 42-35.
Bethel Park just needed to keep doing what they were doing during the fourth.
Mascaro continued her impressive game during the fourth adding five more points to her total.
Bethel hung on to win 59-51.
Mascaro finished with 18 points and Mattes with 11. Junior Shannon Conley and senior Kaitlyn Chess hit some big shots as well. Conley finished with eight and Chess with seven.
Bethel Park now moves to 7-2 in the section and 11-4 overall.
