Bethel Park defeats Upper St. Clair on Hall of Fame night
Bethel Park hosted their cross town rival Upper St. Clair in a Friday night clash.
Bethel started the game off playing very good defense as they have showed this will be one of their strengths this season. Bethel Park held a 14-10 lead after the first quarter. Senior guard Joey Mascaro scored seven of those points.
The second quarter was played similar to the first with another offensive struggle. Mascaro had 11 points along with Junior forward Jake Dixon, who had 6. Zach Cherup had 9 points for St. Clair.
The Hawks were still struggling offensively, but were doing enough to keep the lead. The Hawks only won the third quarter 8-6, but were able to keep a 30-27 lead going into the fourth.
The Panthers were definitely making it interesting, but everytime they would make a run Bethel seemed to always answer right back.
The Hawks, when it was all said and done, were able to hold on to a 52-47 victory.
Mascaro finished with 19 points, while Dixon and senior guard Anthony Bomar both finished with 12.
That win now puts Bethel Park with an overall 4-1 record and a 2-0 section record tying the Hawks with Chartiers Valley and Mt. Lebanon.
At halftime, Bethel Park inducted six new members into their Athletic Hall of Fame. The inductees included:
