Girls cross country runners Hinish, Coffield make PIAAs
The girls varsity cross country team practiced hard over the year, and in the WPIAL championships, they got their reward, especially runners Dani Hinish and Karissa Coffield.
The team finished 4th overall in the race on October 23. This was helped by Hinish’s 9th place finish and Coffield’s 16th place finish in the race. Due to these great finishes, Hinish and Coffield qualified to race in the PIAA State Championships.
“I ran my own race. Having not run that course since last year, I had to race based on what I remembered it to be like,” Dani Hinish said. “Many girls will go out extremely fast the first mile and then die the last two. I kept a conservative first mile pace and was able to catch a lot of girls during my second and third miles which is how I run best.”
Hinish and Coffield represent BP and the girls team as they take the field on Saturday, Nov. 1. The race will take place at Hershey, PA.
“As for states, my main goal is to have a good race,” Hinish said.
Hopefully, Hinish and Coffield have a good race in Hershey.
