The 40th annual Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic was hosted at the Fitzgerald Field House on the University of Pittsburgh campus on Sunday, March 16. The Dapper Dan hosted some of the best wrestlers in the country.
The Oklahoma All-Stars defeated the WPIAL team 37-10 and the USA All-Stars scored a 25-16 victory over the Pennsylvania All-Stars.
The WPIAL won matches at 113, 132, and 285.
The winner at 113 was Canon-McMillan’s Brendan Price, who scored an 11-5 victory over Locust Groves Braden Bennett.
The 132-pound victor was Tyler Smith of Franklin Regional who won 12-2 over Bixby’s Justin Fletcher.
The final victor for the WPIAL team was Shane Kuhn from Kiski Area who defeated Trey Loveall from Locust Grove, 6-2.
The main event of the night was between the USA All-Stars and Pennsylvania’s All-Stars. There were great, edge of your seat matches throughout.
Some of the main matches of the night were at 182 between Zach Zavatsky from Latrobe and Joel Dixon from Oklahoma. Zavatsky ended the night with a win in overtime, 3-1.
Another great match was at 138 which was between Joe McKenna from Blair Academy in New Jersey and Solomon Chishko from Canon-McMillan. McKenna won the match over Chishko, 3-1.
152 hosted a great match between Bryce Brill from Illinois and TC Warner from Cumberland Valley. Brill gave USA some team points with the win over Warner, 5-1.
