Hockey team advances to semifinals

This past Wednesday, the Bethel Park Black Hawks captured a win against the State College Lions, 4-1, in the quarterfinals.

Jake Worcester started off the scoring for Bethel with a goal 9 minutes into the 1st period, which was assisted by Derek Lesnak.

In the 2nd period, the Black Hawks converted on a power play with a goal from Christian Siak, assisted by Derek Lesnak and Jake Worcester.

Later in the 2nd, Lucas Michael put one in from Sey Yeaple, putting State College on the board, but trailing 2-1.

In the 3rd, Bethel Park pulled away. Siak scored another powerplay goal, assisted by Lesnak and Worcester. Then, the exclamation point, Worcester netted a short-handed, empty net goal, that gave Bethel Park the 4-1 win.

Tre Lowe played extremely well, making 17 saves out of the 18 shots he faced.

The Black Hawks are rolling into Wednesday’s semifinal matchup. Bethel Park will take on the Pine-Richland Rams at Robert Morris University Island Sports Complex on Neville Island. Puck drops at 6:45 PM.

Making him a follower of the now revitalized Pittsburgh Pirates. He is also a huge fan of college sports and likes the Duquesne Dukes and the Penn State Nittany Lions. Aaron also says his favorite subject in school is history which explains why he wants to be a history teacher. He would also like to go to college at either Duquesne or Robert Morris. Although Aaron has high dreams, he still lives with his parents like most high schoolers in America. Modrak also one day wishes that he can sky dive. He said, "It is what I always wanted to do." He would also like to travel, preferably to Italy, and see if their spaghetti is better than his mother's. Aaron Modrak is a huge video game fan, but is behind on the video game playing curve as he is still a gamer of Nintendo 64. Henceforth, Aaron Modrak may be the most interesting man alive. He defines what Hawk Eye is as a paper with his energy and eagerness to write cutting edge news for a very powerful, vibrant newspaper. Aaron Modrak, the man of a thousand words.
