With the NFL Draft coming up and the NFL Combine closing, the Steelers need to address some areas of concern in this coming offseason.
With needs being secondary help and wide receivers, the Steelers are making that their top priority. They have met with soon to be free agent strong safety of the Detroit Lions Louis Delmas, and have shown some interest in him. They also have a strong pursuit for the safeties in the upcoming draft. Haha-Clinton Dix, Calvin Pryor, and Terrence Brooks have also caught the eye of the Steelers scouts at the safety position.
The Steelers, as long with their fan base would love to see the team get a big target for Ben Roethlisberger. The Steelers have shown a lot of interest in the wide receivers in the draft. With big receivers Kelvin Benjamin (6’4″) and Mike Evans (6’4″), they seemed to be primed to be the Steelers biggest targets (no pun intended).
Although the Steelers are busy trying to get players to stay while getting more players in the draft, the biggest addition this offseason might be from the personal standpoint. Mike Munchak , former Titans head coach, and Hall of Fame offensive lineman for the Houston Oilers, has been signed by the Steelers as an offensive line coach– a huge boost to the inconsistent offensive line.
After the Steelers showed a strong ending to last year with a 6-2 record in the final 8 games, they seemed to be primed for a good season next year, but they need the stepping stones in place this offseason to get back in to the playoffs.
