Can you believe it? The first Super Bowl held in a cold weather climate in an outdoor stadium is a week away.
Super Bowl XLVIII will be held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ on Sunday, Feb. 2. According to www.weather.com, the high will be 37°F with a low of 27°F and a 30% chance of precipitation.
The game will be broadcast on Fox and the halftime shows will be Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
In case you have not been following the NFL playoffs, the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks are the two teams that will play for the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
Denver is the #1 seed in the AFC playoffs and beat the San Diego Chargers and New England Patriots en route to the Super Bowl.
This will be the Broncos’ first appearance in the Super Bowl since John Elway led them to back-to-back titles in Super Bowls XXXII and XXXIII.
The Broncos are led by quarterback Peyton Manning on offense and cornerback Champ Bailey on defense, both of whom are future Hall of Famers.
Seattle is the #1 seed in the NFC playoffs and beat the New Orleans Saints and the San Francisco 49ers on their way to the Super Bowl.
This will be the Seahawks first appearance in the Super Bowl since they lost to the Steelers in Super Bowl XL.
The Seahawks are led offensively by running back Marshawn Lynch and quarterback Russell Wilson and defensively by cornerback Richard Sherman.
This will be the first time since Super Bowl XLIV that the #1 seeds will play in the Super Bowl. It will also be the first time that the #1 offense (Denver) will play the #1 defense (Seattle) since Super Bowl XXXVII.
The Broncos have been designated the home team and are currently 2.5 point favorites according to OddsShark.com.
