OCTOBER 12: Bethel Park students and football players are getting pumped for Friday night lights, tonight at 7:30. The 4-2 Blackhawks are preparing for, what most believe to be, their biggest game of the season, facing off with the undefeated Upper St. Clair Panthers. When Senior lineman Evan Yarger was asked if he thought the Hawks were able to win tonight, he anwered, “Oh, fa sho.”
The humble Black Hawks know that a win tonight will not come easy. Senior receiver Avery Dibble believes that “Our passing game needs to be efficient and the defense needs to be stiff.”
Most players, when asked about the game, said that they have the talent and ability to beat the Panthers, but they just need to keep playing like they have been. The Hawks have won their last three games in near blowouts.
Even the students know how big this game is. During school, Senior Varsity soccer player Jimmy Vehec yelled, “This game is huge! If we win we’re storming the field!”
Jimmy was, of course referring to the extremely awesome student section. Many believe the current student section is the best and loudest in years. Chants such as, “I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN”, have rocked Black Hawk Studium.
There is even a rumor going around the halls that the “BP Bane” might make an appearance tonight. Besides a few spottings in the woods near Simmons park, the masked mad-man has not been seen since Super-Hero Day during Homecoming Week. Senior Batman-enthusiast Kevin Minteer said he would keep a lookout for the infamous villian.
Tonight’s game is an “orange-out”, so Hawk fans are encouraged to wear anything orange. Hopefully, the turnout for tonight will be big and, of course, loud. So come out tonight at 7:30 to cheer on our boys in black! GO HAWKS
