During the 2025–2026 school year, Eintracht Bethel Park, the fantasy soccer team of the Bethel Park High School German Club, competed in the Goethe Institute of San Francisco’s “Bundesliga Total!” fantasy soccer league against teams from across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. Sponsored by the German professional soccer club 1. FC Union Berlin, the competition challenged students to engage with Germany’s top professional soccer league throughout the season.
From October through May, members of the BPHS team watched German-language Bundesliga highlight videos, answered trivia and comprehension questions, and predicted match results to earn points in the standings.
Eintracht Bethel Park finished the season with 173 points, placing fifth out of 27 teams in Group B.
The finish marked the club’s fifth Top 5 placement since becoming an inaugural league member in 2015. Over the years, the team has twice finished as league runner-up and has consistently remained within the Top 10. This season also marked the first time Eintracht Bethel Park reached first place in the standings, holding the top spot during three of the league’s seven rounds. The team also earned the unofficial title of “Herbstmeister,” awarded to the club leading the standings at the winter break.
In addition, Eintracht Bethel Park claimed the “Pittsburgher Derby” title by finishing ahead of other Western Pennsylvania teams from Central Valley, Fox Chapel, Moon, Mars, and Springdale.
This year’s team members were junior Reed Zeis, sophomore Matthew Williams, and freshman Jack Waterstram. The team was coached by BPHS German teacher Christopher Tobias.
