Juniors Luke Sirochman and Zayniddin Akhmedov created a non-profit called Bethel Park Teen Harmony. Their mission is to help the mental health crisis among teenagers. In a world where teens are experiencing unprecedented stress and challenges, Bethel Park Teen Harmony provides a haven.
It is committed to offering a space where teens can connect, share, and find understanding amid the mental health struggles they face. Sometimes, teens may want to meet others their own age who face similar challenges, rather than always turning to adults for support. Discover how group therapy can provide a much-needed break and foster a sense of community.
They will be holding weekly harmony circles to provide a consistent space for sharing, listening, and growing with peers. Additionally, they will be hosting activities designed to foster connections and provide stress relief.
“What made me want to start this organization was realizing how many people are quietly struggling and feeling alone, even when peers surround them,” Sirochman said. “Throughout high school, I’ve dealt with stress, heavy workloads, and personal challenges that sometimes felt overwhelming, and I often wondered if anyone else felt the same way.”
The non-profit will be holding a local fundraiser at Bellas on Fort Couch on May 21, 4-8 pm. 10% of sales will go directly to the non-profit’s mission.
“When I began opening up to friends and others around me, I saw that many people are going through their own battles. They may not show it, and their experiences may be very different from mine, but the feeling of struggling is something we share,” Akhmedov said.
They’re still looking for a therapist to help hold these sessions. If you’re interested, please visit bethelparkteenharmony.org
