DECA Club co-president and senior Bryan McGuire and vice president of finance and senior Dominic Ollio have made a big difference for the Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Company by boosting their social media as part of their DECA project.
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.
Their efforts have sparked a surge in online interest, shining a light on the financial struggles of this all-volunteer, self-funded fire department. Volunteer firefighters are the backbone of many communities; they put their lives on the line without pay to keep us safe, often juggling their duties alongside full-time jobs and family life.
Bryan and Dominic’s campaign not only raises awareness about the department’s crucial role but also stresses the need for more volunteers, stronger fundraising, and breaking down myths about who can join.
The Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Company’s dedication to public safety depends on the generosity and involvement of the community.
“The most rewarding part of this project is being able to give back to our local fire company and know we can make a positive difference in the community,” Ollio said.
Their project will be featured at the Pennsylvania DECA Career Development Conference in February, showing how creative outreach can help support and grow vital local emergency services.
