Boo!
Every Halloween night in Bethel Park, the streets come alive with ghosts, zombies, and witches as children and families trick-or-treat for candy, fun, and a tradition that blends community spirit, safety, and, of course, some scares!
The official trick-or-treat hours in Bethel Park are 6-8:00 PM on this Friday, October 31st.
The municipality asks that homes that wish to participate are asked to turn their lights on, whether it be porch lights or decorative lights. Homes not participating should leave their lights off. This simple task helps families know where to go.
Unfortunately, the weather forecast calls for a chance of light rain and temperatures in the low 40s. Make sure you have a jacket and a small umbrella handy, just in case there are some hiccups while trick-or-treating!
The Bethel Park Local Police Department emphasizes the need for safety during this tradition. They recommend an earlier start time while there’s still some daylight, give children flashlights so they’re visible, adults should be with younger children and cross only at corners or crosswalks, and drivers are urged to drive slowly in neighborhoods.
Even though they are on duty, keeping Bethel Park citizens safe, they will also be participating in the fun.
“Officers will be patrolling neighborhoods and encourage residents to flag down officers if children want a treat; the department will carry candy to hand out,” police Chief Hartman noted.
Local Bethel Park parents have also stepped up, coordinating routes and using community social pages, like Facebook, to share updates about weather conditions and the best-decorated houses. Join local groups for the newest updates on community events.
One thing is for certain, though….it’s going to be a spooky night in Bethel Park! Don’t be afraid to give someone a little scare for a tradition that will never leave the community here!
