In a hard-fought match, the Bethel Park Black Hawks climbed to the top of their 3A section standings after defeating the Trinity Hillers, 2-1, on Wednesday night.

The game, filled with tense moments and unexpected twists, demonstrated the team’s resilience and determination as they continue to strive towards a third consecutive section title.

The match was tightly contested from the start, with both teams battling for control of the ball and scoring opportunities.

The Black Hawks opened the scoring early in the game, thanks to a quick strike by senior Jason Korbel, No. 25.

This goal would shift the momentum for the Black Hawks, giving them an early lead and setting the tone for what was to come.

However, the opposition responded, and the game remained tied at 1-1 through halftime following a goal late in the first by the Hillers.

The second half proved to be both suspenseful and unusual.

Not long after a penalty kick, which would eventually win the game, by senior and team captain Xavier Jackson, No. 27, a sudden power outage caused a temporary stoppage in play.

Once play resumed, the Black Hawks continued to prove why they rank at the top of their section, as showings from players such as Youssef Benrabia impressed many.

When discussing the team’s performance, head coach Doug Fink said, “Overall, I thought our team performed well for most of the match.”

“We created scoring opportunities, worked hard to win individual battles, and stuck together as a team in difficult moments,” added. “I feel that we can still improve on defending as a unit and keeping clean sheets.”

Fans and supporters are optimistic about the team’s prospects as they look ahead to upcoming matches.

As Black Hawks celebrate this well-earned victory, they reaffirm their status as a formidable force in 3A Section II.

With their eyes set on a historic three-peat, the Black Hawks are flying high and ready to take on whatever challenges lie ahead.
