Each year around Halloween, you may have seen a group of dressed-up preschoolers file into your classroom, take a treat from your teacher, and file back out. Don’t get spooked, because this is part of the annual trick-or-treating activity the preschoolers here at BPHS get to do!
BPHS provides three levels of the child growth and development class, where high school students learn about early education and also work with preschoolers who attend the high school. In order to make school more interesting, the preschoolers have themed weeks, and this week’s theme is, of course, Halloween!
The preschoolers get to partake in fun Halloween-themed activities, such as books, crafts, songs, etc. In addition to the activities, on Halloween day, the kids dress up and trick-or-treat in the high school! They will visit 12 classrooms and gather goodies from the teachers.
Child growth and development teacher, Mrs. Dzanaj said: “They are trick-or-treating during periods four and eight. We stick to the first and second floors because their little feet get tired if they go up more than one set of stairs.”
This year, SGA is in charge of organizing the treats that the children will receive.
When Ella Sabanovic, the SGA member in charge of choosing the treats, was asked what kinds of treats she picked out, she said, “I mainly chose little trinkets and toys for the kids, like slap bracelets, Halloween-themed stress balls, and Play-Doh.”
“To me, planning the preschool trick or treat means assuring the kids will have a fun time and a Happy Halloween!” said Sabanovic when asked what organizing the trick or treating meant to her.
With organization by SGA, the preschoolers are guaranteed to have a great time on their treat-or-treating expedition.
If you see the preschoolers out and about in the high school, be sure to wish them a happy Halloween!
