Boo! A noise you hear time and time again to help get you into the Halloween spirit. But nothing gets students of BPHS in the Halloween spirit than scary movies. But when given a chance to choose one, this is what the surveyed students of Bethel Park had to say.

5. “Scary Movie” (2000)
Certainly, a surprising inclusion, though beloved by the BPHS Students, “Scary Movie” was a 2000 horror thriller about a group of teenagers who accidentally run a man over with their car. But one year later, they are haunted by a man in a ghost face mask. Receiving mixed reviews at the time, it went on to have three interactions, the last of which was in 2006.
4. “IT” (1990)
A movie that has aged gracefully in modern times, “IT” was a 1990 film starring Tim Curry as the main antagonist Pennywise. As it followed, the Clown transformed himself into his victim’s darkest fears throughout the film. Being controversial at the time, it has now grown into a modern cult classic as in 2017 a remake was made that received gang rave reviews from fans and critics alike.
3. “The Conjuring” (2013)
A more modern approach to the slasher style, but in the decade since its 2013 release, it has gained notoriety as a must-watch every year. “The Conjuring” has now since ridden its fame to two more movies as well as another one under the title of “The Conjuring: Last Rites in 2025.”
2. “Halloween” (1978)
Unlike some of the others on the list not a very surprising inclusion on this list is the 1978 film “Halloween,” starring Nick Castle and Jamie Lee Curtis. There isn’t much that hasn’t already been said about the film series. Catching the eyes of fans from multiple generations, it has expanded over decades with the iteration being “Halloween Ends.”
1. “Scream” (1996)
With an outstanding 16 votes, the 1996 film “Scream” takes the number one spot on the list. Revolutionary for its time, the movie revolves around Neve Campbell who plays Sidney Prescot and her struggle against several different versions of the antagonist in the ghost face mask. The movie went way beyond expectations as there have been six iterations since with a seventh being planned for 2026.
