The week of April 22 is a very special week at BPHS. It’s Kindness Week!
The counseling department, which is hosting Kindness Week, has given starfish coupons to teachers to give to students who are caught in the act of doing something kind.
Students can use these coupons to get a free ice cream treat from the cafeteria. The coupon is only valid for a week.
The inspiration behind the starfish activity comes from this YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-aVMdJ3Aok
The teachers have also been given a raffle ticket to give out to students who are spotted being extra kind. Students can bring this ticket to the office to be entered into a raffle to win a gift card.

The SGA has created some awesome theme days for students to participate in next week:
- Monday, April 22- Earth Day (Wear Green!)
- Wednesday, April 24- Bikers vs Surfers
- Thursday, April 25- Adam Sandler Day (Baggy Clothes and mismatch)
- Friday, April 26- VSCO Girls vs Skater Boys
Students can also nominate someone who is always kind, or caught doing something kind, in classrooms there is a paper with a QR code, which opens up a Google form.
The form is very simple. Just explain the act, when it happened, and the first and last name of the student.
One of the guidance counselors, Mr. Lorenzi is excited about Kindness Week. One of his favorite quotes for this week is by Leo Buscaglia.
“What is essential is not only to take from life, but it is essential that you put something back into it. We’ve forgotten our responsibility to give…I give love because I love you, not because I expect you to love back. If I give, expecting something in return, I’m sure to be unhappy.”
