New assistant principal arrives at BPHS
On Tuesday, March 24, a new face joined the administrative staff at BPHS. Mr. Jason Shoaf began his tenure as the new assistant principal.
Mr. Shoaf arrived in Bethel from his previous job as an elementary principal in a small school in the Riverview School District.
Before that, he was a high school social studies teacher for two years.
“I thought it was time to go back to a bigger school,” he said.
That is not the only reason he picked Bethel.
“The technology is advanced especially with the addition of the new Chromebooks,” he said.
When asked what his role as assistant principal entails, Mr. Shoaf said with a chuckle, “I’m still learning that myself.”
He said that he was working with other staff on discipline, teacher evaluations and various other tasks.
Mr. Shoaf has high hopes for this year and years to come.
He said: “In my older schools, there was never really a connection from the students with the school. I want the students to take pride in where they are from.”
He hopes to do this by creating a “strong connection between the students and teachers.”
He wants students and staff to enjoy coming to school. “I want everyone to feel like they are at home,” he said.
BPHS welcomes Mr. Shoaf aboard.
