Cold weather brings delays and closures
The past two weeks have been quite cold compared to the break and with the cold weather comes delays and closures of school.
Some students were upset by the recent decision not to close school. So what is the criteria for school closures?
In an email interview, Mrs. Vicki Flotta said: “It’s not an exact science There’s no temperature or amount of snow that would automatically trigger a delay or closure.”
They normally take input from the Municipality’s Public Works and Transportation departments and make decisions based on their advice and other people’s input.
To close, Mrs. Flotta said: “The decisions are made with the safety of our students and staff in mind. We don’t always get it right, but we certainly try.”
