New book by Dr. Seuss comes out

Dr. Seuss is loved by many, and his books have been adored by children everywhere. However, soon enough, there will be a new book by Dr. Seuss for little kids to enjoy.

Random House Children’s Books has announced that they will publish a new book by Dr. Seuss. It will be called What Pet Should I Get?, and it will be published on July 28.

The text and drawings of the book was found by Dr. Seuss’s widow, Audrey Geisel, when she found the texts in a box in 2013. Supposedly, there was two other manuscripts found.

The new book contains the same characters, a brother and sister, as one of Dr. Seuss’s other books, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish. The new book is expected to be a bestseller, like One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, Green Eggs and Ham, and The Cat in the Hat. All of these books are on the Top 50 on USA TODAY’s Best-Selling Books list.

In 2014, four other Seussian tales were published by Random House. One of these was Horton and the Kwuggerbug and Other Lost Stories, which was first published in unknown Redbook magazine in the early 1950s. According to reports, What Pet Should I Get? was probably written in the late 1950s to the early 1960s.

Dr. Seuss, who was actually Theodor Seuss Geisel, died in 1991 at the age of 87. After his death, Audrey remodeled the house, and put this special box with Dr. Seuss’s other belongings. They then were not touched until 2013, when Audrey and Dr. Seuss’s friend Claudia Prescott found the box in an office space where Dr. Seuss used to write.

In a statement, Audrey said: “While undeniably special, it is not surprising to me that we found this because Ted always worked on multiple projects and started new things all the time — he was constantly writing and drawing and coming up with ideas for new stories.”

The new book will be held at the University of California at San Diego. Here, the university’s library, the Geisel Library, holds other objects in the Dr. Seuss Collection.

Expect more Dr. Seuss books to come out that could be even better than the new one, What Pet Should I Get?
