From the desk of Dr. J: Career Spotlight Series
Recently, the Career Spotlight series began in the high school. This is when different professionals come to the school to discuss their careers and convince students interested to get a job in it.
“The Career Spotlight Series is an opportunity for students to focus on post secondary options,” said Dr. J. “As I said in the beginning of the year, high school is not about high school, it is about life after high school.”
These professionals include doctors, professors, businessmen, and even a police officer. All of these people come to educate us more about their respective careers and convince us to get a job in that respective career.
“The Career Spotlight Series began last year, and the Counseling Department has done a great job scheduling it. They also have done well in securing speakers from various departments,” Dr. J said.
“You should attend the session with the career you are most interested in.”
The Career Spotlight Series started on November 6 and will continue until December 10. Four days a week, there will be presentations.
To attend a presentation, one must sign up via Naviance and make sure their teacher during the time will allow the student to attend. The presentations will be held in Room M429.
“It is a great opportunity for everyone,” Dr. J said.
