World Wednesday: Recent Alaska earthquake’s magnitude revised by scientists

On November 30, 2018 an earthquake hit Anchorage, Alaska and left the area in ruins.

There were thousands of aftershocks following the occurrence. The earthquake had left the roads broken and buckled and much damage to buildings and homes.

Initially, the earthquake had been a 7.0 on the magnitude scale, but later had been increased to 7.1.

This change of magnitude had been altered under the auspices of the Advanced National Seismic System.

The changes and the data taken from the earthquake have been reviewed by many agencies and academic groups.
