Helpful hints for healthy humans
Now that springtime is officially here, people across the nation are working actively to improve both their health and their happiness. This being said, bettering one’s body can be hard to do! Here, as follows, are some helpful tips and tricks for being a healthy, happy human…
- Make sure to exercise regularly (or as much as possible!). The American Heart Association recommends “at least 150 minutes per week of moderate exercise…”
- Instead of drinking sugar-filled liquids such as juices and pop, try to stick solely to water.
- Don’t skip meals, skip excessive eating. In other words, as poet Hesiod once said, “Moderation is best in all things.”
- Avoid fried foods whilst focusing more so on foods that are baked, steamed, or boiled. (eufic.org)
- If possible, get a good night’s sleep! It is highly recommended for teenagers to rest for at least nine hours a night.
- Avoid eating anything two hours before bed.
- Try chewing gum to taste the flavor without adding the calories.
- Consume less calories in terms of saturated fats. Saturated fats, in should be mentioned, are found in foods like sausage, biscuits, butter, and cake.
- Look out for nutrition labels. They inform you of what’s in the food you’re about to consume.
- Limit the amount of salt in your diet. Sounds somewhat obvious, right? However, some foods that include salt are rather unexpected, such as corn snacks, pickles, certain cereals, salami, soy sauce, and even chicken nuggets.
