Sheetz could give GetGo a run for their money

Known to most as the social and dining hub of the Bethel Park borrough, GetGo has been satisfying customers through their low price fuel, food, and tobacco since its opening in the late 2000s. Its centralized location and made-to-order sandwich shop make it appealing to people of all ages.

In fact, many people turn to GetGo for a quick meal now as opposed to the unhealthy choice of a fastfood restaurant.

However, GetGo could possibly lose some of their loyal customers as a brand new Sheetz gas station will be opening up very soon on Route 88 a few minutes past the Dairy Queen. Sheetz gas stations feature all the same luxuries as Getgo does, but in terms of made-to-order food, Sheetz offers many different options such as chili cheese dogs, french fries, and nachos.

When asked what excites him most about the opening of Sheetz, senior Jake McCall said, “I’m really looking forward to enjoying the french fries, and I’ve heard that the food options are enormous compared to GetGo.”

The new gas station will serve as another option for those citizens of Bethel Park and/or Castle Shannon that live too far away from GetGo to make the trip. The Sheetz proximity to the Washington Junction poses as an attractive place for those in the workforce looking for a bite to eat after a long day. Not to mention, it is simply a nice change of pace.

The grand opening of Sheetz will be an interesting day in Bethel Park, as many people will find themselves questioning, “GetGo or Sheetz?”.

This is Grant Conroy, a junior at Bethel Park High School who is new to the Hawk Eye staff. This is his first year writing for the newspaper and he is already taking the online writing world by storm. He is an experienced writer due to his previous years spent in honors and advanced English classes. Grant enjoys writing primarily about sports topics and controversies, but he has a wide variety of areas in which he excels as well. While in college, he plans to utilize his 4.2 GPA to major in Journalism/Writing at the university of his choice. A few colleges that he is considering are Northwestern University, Boston University, and the University of Vermont. Outside of the classroom, Grant is a dedicated and hardworking member of the Wrestling team, Yearbook, PACS, and of course, the Hawk Eye. Additional hobbies of his include snowboarding at various mountain resorts, playing with his dog Rosie, and living life like there's no tomorrow. He plans to continue writing for the Hawk Eye during his senior year of High School.
