The most watched television event year after year is the Super Bowl. Most sports fans watch the hard hitting drama to see who will come out victorious as the champion of the NFL. However, some of the more casual sports fans enjoy something else going on during the game. Some of the biggest hype surrounding the Super Bowl isn’t even the game itself; the hype is about the commercials in between timeouts and possession changes.
In past years, major brands like Doritos, Budweiser and Coca-Cola stole the show. Most companies, in their thirty second skits, try to appeal to men. Men always look forward to seeing GoDaddy.com commercials featuring NASCAR’s female superstar Danica Patrick and other commercials featuring some of the world’s most beautiful women. Last year, companies spent almost $3.5 million dollars for thirty seconds of facetime during the Super Bowl and that price is only expected to rise this year.
Super Bowl commercials have become so popular in recent years that there is even online voting to determine the best commercial of this year.
Some of the biggest commercials rumored for this year are a Mercedes-Benz ad featuring Spiderman, a Budweiser ad featuring their signature Clydesdale, a commercial for Oreo’s, and an ad for Chrysler vehicles. New companies are trying to stay away from the sex-appeal in their ads. Also, there is much dissapointment because companies have released their commercials before the big game.
While there is no question that the Super Bowl itself will be packed with action this year, there are bound to be quality commercials for companies of all kinds. Fans of all teams will watch the game, and will also be looking forward to the entertaining commercials in between plays and stoppages of the most hyped up Super Bowl in recent history.
