Former Vice President Joe Biden’s kickoff rally for his 2020 Presidential campaign on May 18, 2019.

The acceptable candidate, Joe Biden

Former vice president to 44th president Barack Obama, Joe Biden is the Democratic candidate running for office in 2020.

Even before his time as vice president to Obama from 2009 to 2017, Biden served as a Democratic senator for Delaware from 1973 to 2009.

As a child, Biden was born in Scranton, PA then moved to Wilmington, Del. a couple of years later. President Trump has even accused Biden of having “deserted” Pennsylvania when he moved to Delaware in third grade for his father to find work.

Joe Biden has proposed many plans to help rebuild the U.S. once he gains presidency. Some of his main plans involve dealing with the current global pandemic, a recovery plan for jobs and economic recovery plan for working families, and a plan to give every American citizen affordable healthcare.

He also plans to confront the climate change emergency, strengthen racial economic equity, empower and protect women, end the opioid crisis, and many other plans for a better future.

One characteristic that makes Joe Biden relatable to the American citizen is that he too knows grief since he lost his wife and daughter in a car accident. A week before Christmas, Biden was in his temporary office in Washington D.C. and Neilia was driving with her daughter Naomi and two sons, Beau and Hunter, to go Christmas shopping. A tractor-trailer hit the car at a stop sign intersection, killing Neilia and Naomi while Beau and Hunter survived.

Not only due to his personal loss and close relations to Pennsylvania do I think he is the better candidate, but he has answered in multiple interviews how he intends to fix President Trump’s mistakes with dealing with COVID-19.

I believe that President Trump had opportunities to fix his mistakes and correct his lies but either ignored the issue or continued with more lies and deception towards U.S. citizens. I believe that Joe Biden will fix what Trump has done and help lead the U.S. towards lower numbers of the pandemic.
