Kings Dead is a hip-hop duo hailing from the city of Boston, MA. They consist of Sonny Shotz, the MC, and the producer Alex Mendoza.
Kings Dead was formally know as The Dean’s List. Shotz and Mendoza were accompanied by co-producer Mik Beats, forming this hot, upcoming group.
In 2012, The Dean’s List released the critically acclaimed The Drive In. With the success of The Drive In, sky was the limit for them.
They went on to open and play with big time acts such as KiD CuDi and Calvin Harris. Their partying, ‘college rap’ sound was growing like wild fire, ready to catch a nation’s attention and blow up.
But their craving for greater success led to a change.
The group thought they were stuck in this image they had created. They thought they were being contained by themselves. Shotz and Mendoza called for a makeover.
They ended up cutting ties with Beats and regrouping to form Kings Dead.
In the summer of 2013, Kings Dead released their overdue album Revenge Of The Beast, which followed the release of their first album, Jerusalem, which was very disappointing to most fans.
But with Revenge Of The Beast, Kings Dead struck gold.
Revenge Of The Beast is proof that Shotz and Mendoza are back. They stuck with that unique sound that made them who they are and made it flat out better. Their music has matured greatly but at the same time keeps that rebellious youth vibe.
Kings Dead are a pioneer in music due to the fact that they have created a sound no one has ever heard before. Don’t be surprised if you hear them in the time forthcoming. Kings Dead is a ticking time bomb that is well beyond their detonation time. Get ready for them to explode.
