The Dalai Drama presents Soldier’s Heart today, February 28th, during periods 3, 5, 7, and 9 in the Little Theatre.
The Dalai Drama is the Theatre Arts III’s company name. The company will perform mixed scenes of Soldier’s Heart, a short novella, written by Gary Paulsen.
“Soldier’s heart” is a term used to describe people that have PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) after they return home from war. A military veteran encounters psychological distress. In the book, it tells the story of a young man, Charlie, 16, who experiences war at a young age.
In the short play that will be shown today, members of the Dalai Drama will act out the characters and the scenes of how this takes place.
Lexi Quigley, a Senior in Theatre Arts, adapted the scenes from the book. She also started to direct the play, but that role was soon taken over by another student in the class, Aly Madar.
The class picked this book because it had a connection to the Freshman teachers and because it is a short novel.
Mr. Nagel, the teacher of the class, says, “You can expect to see a powerful, shocking ending.”
Be sure to take the time and see the wonderful play that Dalai Drama will put on during periods 3, 5, 7, and 9!
