When the radio switches back from holly jolly Christmas tunes to ghetto rap and your sugar high starts to wear off, it can be hard to overcome those post-holiday blues. Who wants to snap back into their everyday routine after all of that cheer? Don’t worry, now you don’t have to! Tom and I have come up with a few ways to get you over the holiday slump you might be stuck in:
- Leave the decorations up for a while; just because the rest of the world switches back to its old boring self, doesn’t mean you have to! Let your tree shine bright like a diamond a little bit longer. And when July rolls around, take them down while listening to your favorite Christmas album!
- Having to say goodbye to those Holiday cookies can leave anyone down in the dumps. Don’t waste time in the gym, stay in the kitchen! Everyone knows cookies taste better anyways. So you packed on a few pounds? Who cares? You can be next year’s Santa Claus!
- Go buy yourself some more presents! You know you have plenty of gift cards from grandma lying around, anyways. Spend them! Still feeling down? Wrap them and put them under the tree. You can open them after you have another plate of those cookies.
- Failing to complete your New Year’s resolution sucks, so don’t make one you know you won’t follow through on! Instead of saying “I’m going to lose weight,” or “I’m going to be nicer,” just relax. Stay home and watch some TV. No one needs to know that you didn’t make one. Make your goal to be a hermit, that way you don’t have to see those people you’re trying to “be nicer to.”
- Celebrate the little holidays! Martin Luther King Day? Light your menorah! President’s day? Have the family over! Every day is a gift, celebrate it.
Following these few simple tips are bound to give you the greatest New Year you have ever had! If you are still feeling sad, start a new countdown. If there’s one thing you can be sure about, it’s that Christmas will come again next year.
Peace and Blessin’s
