For anyone still in school, be it high school or any other. You know exactly what this article is about (unless you have a uniform). For anyone past their high school years, let me set the scene.
It is 7 a.m., and you are still waking up for school. You wish you could just stay in bed or take your bed with you. Even worse, you have to change into uncomfortable day clothes, or do you?
Teenagers in the present day don’t bother with the uncomfortable clothes, and pajamas aren’t reserved only for pajama days. It is common to see students walking the halls with pajama pants, whether it be flannel, silky, or fleece. Now, is this negative, positive, or does this fashion ‘faux pas’ not really matter?
Some may argue that wearing pajama pants to school is inappropriate for school, and potentially distracting for students. If students are dressed for bed, won’t they be more likely to sleep in class and slack off on their school work? These are all hypotheticals, and no way to tell if there is statistical evidence connecting student attire and attention levels in class. However, with or without any valid evidence, we cannot completely refute these claims.
As a student, I am inclined to believe that what we wear has little to no effect on our performance within class, and that performance only depends on each student’s drive. If something as simple as pajama pants can affect a student’s grades, then uniforms should probably be implemented; luckily, this claim is unrealistic.
In the end, this pajama craze just comes from a place of comfort for the students; it is not meant to have any disrespect or deeper meaning. We should let our students study and learn in anything that is appropriate and makes a better place for learning.
