Ben Smith is this week’s ‘Student Musician of the Week.’

Sophomore trombone player Ben Smith has been involved with music since the age of seven, and is currently a part of Symphonic Band and Marching Band. In addition to trombone, he also plays piano, bass guitar, and viola.

In regards to future plans, Smith said, “I hope to continue with my music career as a Just Dance expert along with Bailey Sims, the reigning Just Dance champion.”

His dream career, however, would be to perform for an audience, about which he said, “It is my goal to perform Hot Time Bethel Victory on the corner of McMurray Road and Clifton Road for 33 cents a day.”

Smith’s musical inspiration comes from Bailey Sims, about whom he said, “Bailey’s Student Musician of the Week articles for Hawk Eye inspired me to work hard enough to be worthy of being featured.”

He is also inspired by the man who said, “Without music, my life would b flat.”
