Student Musician of the Week: Joshua Anischenko
Senior drumline captain Joshua Anischenko is involved in marching band (drumline), symphonic band, jazz ensemble, percussion ensemble, and concert choir. He also performed in the pit orchestra for this year’s musical, Curtains.
Josh has been involved in music since the age of nine. He plays percussion and drum set as well as a little piano and guitar.
He plans to go on to college for a degree in music education, but ideally, he said, “Like most musicians, I would like to be in some form of performing group, whether it be a jazz band or a symphony.”
Joshua gets his musical inspiration from his dad, about whome he said: “Growing up, he had a rule that we had to play an instrument until we got to high school, and then we could choose to continue with it or walk a different road. That rule has helped me develop my skills as a musician and to truly find my passion for music.”
Anischenko has been a part of Honors Band, Honors Jazz, District Orchestra, and successfully passed auditions to get into the Penn State and Duquesne music programs.
