Boys soccer advances to WPIAL quarterfinals

And the Black Hawks advance to the next round of the WPIAL playoffs!

It was another big win for 3A Section II Champions the Black Hawks. They defeated Montour Saturday afternoon in the first round after a game-winning goal from #27 Xavier Jackson, his second goal of the game.

#24 Youssef Benrabia scored the first goal of the game to set the tone for the Hawks.

The job for the Hawks is not yet complete. Coming up on Wednesday, Oct. 23, they travel to Greater Latrobe for an intense quarterfinal showdown.

Greater Latrobe has had a dominant season going 10-0-0 in their section while going 12-4-1 in the overall season. In the process, they won the 3A Section III Championship.

But senior and team captain Max LeMessurier had this to say regarding the quarterfinal match-up: “We’re a very talented team who has the ability to go far and do things this team hasn’t done in a while. It will be a tough match but if we stay focused and go in with the right attitude, we should win this game. We all trust each other to make the plays we need.”

Having not won the 3A WPIAL since their 2007 overtime victory over Peters Township, the question the world wants to know is: Will the Black Hawks prevail?
