The boys soccer team had high hopes going into WPIAL playoffs.
After not losing a single game in section play en route to the team’s first section title since 2013 and only yielding seven goals in those 14 section games with seven shutouts, they were looking to make a deep run in the postseason.
Unfortunately, stubborn Indiana had other plans.
The No. 4 Hawks matched up with the No. 13 Little Indians in the first round of the WPIAL playoffs at home on Saturday.
While the Hawks continued their defensive ways, shutting out the opposing squad for the entirety of regulation and overtime, they also failed to score, despite several chances.
Their fate was decided in a shootout which the Indians won 4-1, thanks to excellent goalkeeping from the Little Indians keeper.
It was a devastating loss for the Hawks since it meant the end of their season, but it certainly didn’t reflect their play.
Indiana will move on to the quarterfinals to meet No. 5 Montour.
