Lady Hawks hoops handle Highlanders
The Lady Hawks are now 4-2 in their section after knocking off the Baldwin Lady Highlanders 51-42 on Monday, Jan. 17.
With the first half of section play coming to a close, this game meant a lot for both teams.
At the half, the Lady Hawks were winning 23-17. They knew that they couldn’t get comfortable, especially with the intensity that Baldwin brings with their style of play.
“We did a very good job of ignoring their loud bench and sticking to playing our game,” said junior captain Mary Boff.
Down the stretch, the Lady Hawks fought together as a team to pull off the win.
“When Baldwin started to go on their run in the fourth quarter, we kept our composure and continued to play as a team,” said Boff, one of the team’s top defenders.
With this huge section win, the Lady Hawks are currently tied with Upper St. Clair for second place in their section, trailing the undefeated Lady Blue Devils of Mount Lebanon.
The Lady Hawks open up the second half of section play on Thursday, Jan. 20 at 7:30 p.m. on their home court vs. the Hempfield Spartans. The first time the two teams played, the Lady Hawks won big 60-29.
