The No. 2 boys volleyball team continues to excel at being perfect with an 18-0 record going into the WPIAL championship game. After beating Shaler 3-2, they will face No. 1 North Allegheny at Fox Chapel High School at 8 p.m.

Hawks volleyball started off strong taking a 1-0 lead after defeating Shaler 25-20 in the first set. The Hawks would continue to roll and take another set making their lead 2-0 by beating Shaler 26-24.

In the third set, the BP boys seemed to let their foot off the gas pedal and lost 25-20, cutting their lead to 2-1. For the fourth set, the Hawks again lost 25-19 making it a tie game at 2-2, which made for an exciting finish.

The fifth and final set had fans on the edge of their seats, more so for the Bethel Park side. The Black Hawks weren’t going to let their playoff hopes slip away and lose. They won the last set 15-11 to take the 3-2 win and punch their ticket to the finals.

About the team’s win, senior Mason Bussard said, ¨We have been down in games before, but we never let down, never think it’s over, and always seem to come through on top.¨

The Hawks still have one more test in the championship game against North Allegheny. With both undefeated records, there will be only one perfect record. With that being said, fans need to come out and support the Hawks on this battle. So this Thursday at 8 p.m., come out to Fox Chapel and watch the Hawks take on the Tigers for the grand finale.
