Competitive cheer squad is now ranked 3rd in the nation
The competitive cheer squad placed third in the Small Varsity D1 Division at the National Cheerleading Championships at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, FL the weekend of Feb. 10.
The competition had three brackets A, B, and C for preliminaries. Then, the top eleven from each bracket make it to the semi-finals. All 33 teams compete against each other in the semis, and the top 20 teams advance to the finals. Finally, the top 20 teams compete to see who is the strongest team in the nation.
When asked how the competition was down in Florida, sophomore Riley Evans remarked that it was “very tough competition, all extremely competitive teams.”
Evans contributes the success of this team to, “the atmosphere of the team being amazing, and all of the coaches that made us to be the athletes we are today.”
