Hawks come up big on court and track

Boys’ volleyball advances to semis, Track & Field sends six to states

Jehvonn Lewis, Terron Murphy, James Krandel, and Zach Taylor were WPIAL Champs in the 4x100m with a time of 42.64

On the court, the No. 3-seeded boys’ volleyball team continued their undefeated run into the playoffs with a big 3-1 win over No. 6 Shaler. The Black Hawks won the first set 25-17, while the Titans tied the match with a 29-27 win in the second set. Bethel Park clinched the victory with wins of 26-24 and 30-28.

They will face No. 2-seed and defending champion Penn-Trafford in the semifinals, which will be a rematch of last year’s WPIAL title match.

On the track, the 4×100 meter team consisting of Terron Murphy, James Krandel, Jehvonn Lewis (last minute emergency sub for Kenny Barnhart), and Zach Taylor are the WIAL Champs! They crossed the finish line first with a time of 42.64.

James Krandel ran 10.97 in the 100m dash which earned him a 3rd place medal and a ticket to states.

In the long jump, Zach Taylor leaped 22- 11 1/4 ft (a new school record) for a 3rd place finish and spot on the bus to states.

Rebecca Libell cleared 11 ft (a new school record) in the pole vault, finished in 4th, and qualified for states.

The state meet takes place May 26 and May 27 at Shippensburg University.
