Bonaccorsi, Montgomery representing BP at State Wrestling Championships
Bethel Park’s very own Nino Bonaccorsi and Jason Montgomery will be competing in the PIAA Wrestling Championships beginning today, Thursday, March 9, at 4 PM. Both will wrestle at the Giant Center in Hershey, PA for Class AAA.
Nino, weighing in at the 182 pound weight class, is seated first overall for his weight class. Nino just having won the WPIAL title on March 4, makes it back-to-back title wins for him and is what helped earned him the first seed overall at Hershey. Bonaccorsi is the first ever to achieve the feat of winning two WPIAL titles.
Jason Montgomery earned his spot at states by getting in the top four at WPIALs. Coming in to Hershey unseeded and having to start in a pigtail match, Jason has a tough road ahead of him today. He is ready for the competition at the 160 pound weight class though.
Nino finishing in states last year as runner-up is looking for redemption this time around in bringing home the first ever state title to Bethel Park. If he makes it to the finals, the match will be televised Saturday on PCN TV at 7 PM.
You can follow the wrestling all weekend on MSA Sports and on Flowrestling.
