Pirates’ second consecutive season of clinching a playoff spot
The Pittsburgh Pirates have officially clinched a playoff spot Tuesday night in Atlanta. They were able to win by sticking to their formula: good pitching and clutch batting.
The Bucs have truly came to know how to win consistently. They won their last 15 out of 18 games.
The game on Tuesday was capped off by Gerrit Cole’s great start. He did give up two early runs but ended the night by retiring the last 17 batters in a row.
They scored by an error letting McCutchen sprint home, a solo shot by the Lunchbox Hero, and an RBI double from Marte’s lately hot bat.
Although the Pirates have definitely clinched a playoff spot, they will certainly still try hard to win the division. They are currently 1.5 games back of the Cardinals.
The Cardinals are currently ready to go against the Cubs who walked off against them on Tuesday as well.
For now, everything is going the Pirates’ way. We can only hope that the Pirates stay hot throughout the rest of the season.
