Shortly after signing with Miami two seasons ago, Lebron James and Chris Bosh spoke of many goals and possibilities for the star-studded Heat.
Last season, the Heat met one of those goals by winning an NBA championship. This came as a surprise to very few fans as Miami’s roster was loaded with all-stars and possible future hall-of-famers.
While many more championships are expected to come in the future, the Heat have set aside their championship aspirations for now in order to achieve a much more rare and impressive goal. Miami is looking to set the record for most consecutive wins in a row.
Under the wing of reigning MVP Lebron James, the Heat have now captured 24 straight wins. This streak is the second largest in NBA history, and nine more wins away from tying the record for longest ever.
The Heat’s schedule is loaded with average to below-average teams for the next nine games. While the streak could end on any given night, there are two games that pose a threat to the team’s run at history.
The first tough road game goes through Chicago. When the two meet, Chicago superstar Derrick Rose may be back to make his 2012-2013 season debut. This is an intriguing matchup because of the stipulations for both teams.
The second tough road game is in San Antonio. This Western Conference powerhouse sits atop a much more deep and talented Western Conference, therefore posing a serious threat to Miami’s streak.
Some other intriguing matchups are a home game against New York (a team that Miami has struggled against in the past) and of course the final 33rd game of the streak when Miami hosts Philadelphia.
While this Heat time will certainly be remembered by many for years to come, they can etch their names in the record books by capturing nine more wins in a row.
