On Sunday, March 24th, 2012, the Bethel Park Black Hawks won the Class AAA Penguin Cup Championship at the Consol Energy Center, the winning goal flying off the stick of Zach Volzer with 1:56 to go in the third period. The 18-7-1 Hawks defeated the 17-6-3 Peters Township Indians to win the Championship. Bethel was ranked 5th preseason by the Post-Gazette.
The Hawks then went on to the State Championship, where they faced LaSalle, a private school. The Hawks were defeated in the State Championship by LaSalle at the Robert Morris arena.

Recently, three of the Hawks were named Hockey All-Stars by the Post-Gazette. These players include Senior Defenseman Jacob Brown, Senior Goalie Alex Blum, and Senior Forward Zach Volzer.
