The BPHS swim team kicked off the 2011-2012 season with the annual Black and Orange swim meet.
In this meet, the BPHS team divides into two teams, which face each other.
This year’s meet was especially important because it is the last Black and Orange swim meet that will be held at the current High School.
For the girls, the Orange team beat the Black team by a score of 101-84.
For the boys, the Orange team also defeated the Black team 86-84.
The day after the meet, I interviewed a few swimmers. Steven Davis was on the Orange team, and swam in the 50 yard freestyle, 500 yard freestyle, 200 yard freestyle relay, and the 400 yard freestyle Relay. He said that his favorite part of the meet was the boys 400 freestyle relay because it was the final race of the meet, and decided which boys team would win.
Another swimmer I interviewed was Samantha Jensen, who participated in the 200 yard medley, the 50 yard freestyle, the 100 yard breaststroke, and the 400 yard freestyle relay. She said that her favorite part of the meed was hanging out with her friends on the swim team.
The complete list of events at the meet is as follows: 150 yard freestyle, 50 yard freestyle, 100 yard fly, 100 yard freestyle, 500 yard freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100 yard breast stroke, 200 yard medley relay, 200 yard individual medley, and 400 yard freestyle relay.
