Senior Aaron Hofbauer has officially enrolled in the prestigious United States Military Academy at West Point.
The senior has a 4.4 GPA and is involved in baseball, golf, NHS and DECA.
Ever since Aaron was younger he envisioned himself joining the military because his grandpa was a marine.
“His character is something that I have tried to emulate throughout my life,” said Hofbauer. “Pursuing a career in the military is an opportunity for me to carry on his legacy.”
Hofbauer added, “After I attended a camp at the academy (West Point) over the summer I knew it was the right place for me.”
He believes his determination and work ethic will help him succeed at West Point.
During Hofbauer’s first year at West Point, he wants to primarily grow as a person and a leader. He also looks forward to developing as a student and athlete.
When asked if there is a specific officer or mentor who has inspired your decision to pursue this path, Hofbauer said: “I do not have a specific mentor or officer; however, my parents have made countless sacrifices to help me achieve my dream. I was motivated to make them proud.”
“My uncle has also had a huge impact on my life, so I strive to make him proud. Additionally, countless people have given me advice and help through this journey. I have spoken to countless officers, admissions representatives, and current cadets at the academy who have helped guide me.
“I am nervous about the 6-week basic training program that starts in the summer. Building a connection with my fellow cadets in my squad, and enjoying each moment throughout the process will help overcome the challenges that are involved with it,” said Hofbauer.
He will be studying engineering when he gets to West Point in the summer.
