Orchestra to put on electrifying performance

The orchestra will perform their rock concert “Electrostrings” on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. They will play songs from famous bands such as The Beatles, Queen, Led Zeppelin, and much more!

The orchestra has been practicing non-stop, but they wouldn’t be complete without their director, Mrs. Glover. Mrs. Glover teaches all of the orchestra classes at the high school, including some at Independence Middle School. She generously answered questions about the “Electrostrings” concert.

Q.) What is “Electrostrings” about? What makes it so different from a regular orchestra concert?

A.) The Electrostrings concert is all rock/pop music, unlike a regular concert that has a variety of musical genres, including classical music.

Q.) Sounds fun! What made you pick the pieces for the Orchestra to play?

A.) I tried to select pieces that were familiar to the students and audience, that were upbeat and fun to play, but also pieces that were challenging and offered learning opportunities for the orchestra students.

Q.) After all the rehearsal, it’s time! How do you influence viewers to come and see the rock concert?

A.) I think the community is interested in both supporting the orchestra and hearing music they are familiar with and like. I haven’t actually done as much advertising as I have in years past and yet there are many people who have already purchased tickets. I think people just enjoy this kind of experience.
