Back-to-back for Black Hawks

Boys soccer becomes section champions for 2nd year in a row

Dribbling down the field, there’s the shot… Goal!  Bethel Park is your section champion.

On Oct. 15, the boys soccer team became the 3A Section Co-Champion along with the Thomas Jefferson boys soccer team.

Sometimes history repeats itself, and this is true for the Hawks. With their section title last year, the Hawks have gone back-to-back. The last time this occurred was the 1983 and ‘84 seasons, 40 years ago.

In the WPIAL team tournament, the boys have secured the No. 5 seed. They will play host to Montour on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 2 p.m.

Black Hawks Head Coach, Mr. Doug Fink had to say this regarding the playoffs: “I am excited to face Montour on Saturday in the first round of the WPIAL playoffs!  I was disappointed with our early exit from the playoffs last season in penalty kicks. I thought we had a decent regular season this year and we are still working hard on improving our defensive responsibilities as well as our combination play in the attacking third of the field. The playoffs are a whole new animal and anything can happen!”

Also, the Black Hawks team captain Jackson Friday had this to say regarding the playoffs: “We have to take each game one by one. Seeding is just a number at the end of the day and we control our own fate.”

So, if you’re looking for something to do on Saturday, drop by the Hawks Nest as you get to witness the Black Hawks’ playoff run.
