The girls basketball locker room is stinkin’ of sewer

The girls basketball locker room is located underneath the gym and on the same floor as the pool deck. The basketball team shares the locker room with the girls volleyball and lacrosse teams as well.

The team spends a lot of time in there together and put a lot of effort into decorating and making it a nice and fun place to be. They go in there for pregame speeches and halftime speeches, and it is a good place to hang out and bond as a team before and after practice. Unfortunately, the usual luxuries of having their own locker room have been compromised.

Every day when they step foot into the locker room, they get hit with the overwhelming smell of a dumpster. The smell is a fair mix between old chicken in a garbage can and sewage water.

The team has tried many things to overcome this inconvenience and nothing seems to be working. They put air fresheners on the sewers, have sprayed Febreze, ran the showers, and poured many chemicals down the drains, but nothing seems to mask this order. The team would frequently run the showers just to make sure water was being circulated and not stagnate, but it hasn’t solved their problems.

In certain games, the team has had to have their half time speeches outside in the hallway because the odor was so strong.

When asked about her feelings on this smelly issue, senior guard Maria Cerro said, “The stench is so bad in our locker room that I had to get dressed in the hallway, and it is just completely absurd.”

The players of the team are so tired of almost throwing up every time they walk into the locker room. They need a change or just a plumber.

The Lady Hawks travel to a new locker room at USC on Monday, so come support the girls as they look to defeat the Panthers. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.
