Donate blood, save babies
It is well known throughout BPHS that Mr. and Mrs. Casagranda gave birth to a baby that was three months premature, Georgie Casagranda. In the first hour of her life there were complications that caused blood loss resulting in the need for a transfusion. Prior to being released from the hospital 75 days later, she required two additional transfusions.
In support of babies like Georgie, BPHS is hosting another blood drive this Wednesday, May 25 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students 16 years old and older are encouraged to donate blood. Just a couple ounces of blood can save a life.
If you are considering donating blood, be sure to drink lots of water and eat a healthy breakfast. Don’t have any caffeine before your donations and be sure to tell the doctors if you have been outside of the country in the past year. If you have a new tattoo, you need to wait one year before giving blood and 6 months if you have a new piercing.
Please consider donating blood for a good cause. You could be saving a life.
