S.T.A.N.D. sows seeds of diversity and acceptance
S.T.A.N.D. visited Ben Franklin Elementary School on Thursday, April 27 to plant fruits and vegetables with the kids.
The project was to teach kids diversity and acceptance with the fun of them having the responsibility of taking care of their own plants.
Along with planting the fruits and vegetables, the kids got to hear a cute story where all of the characters are fruits and vegetables and the main character (Tina the tomato) learns about diversity and differences.
Each classroom got a different type of fruit or vegetable. The plants are to stay in the classroom until June 1st, then S.T.A.N.D. members will take the plants to the community garden for them to continue to grow.
